Lanwall: IP Camera Viewer TV

Support

Lanwall shows the live RTSP streams of IP cameras and NVRs on your home network as a grid on Android TV. There is no account, no server and no cloud: the TV talks directly to your cameras, so when something does not work the answer is almost always in the camera's settings or on the network.

Quick checklist

  1. RTSP is enabled on the camera or NVR. If its settings have no "RTSP" option, Lanwall cannot open it. Cameras that can only be watched through their maker's cloud app, and cameras that send only MJPEG video, are not supported.
  2. The TV and the camera are on the same local network. Guest networks and client ("AP") isolation on the router stop the TV from reaching the camera.
  3. The video is H.264. H.265 also plays on TVs with a hardware H.265 decoder.
  4. Use "Test connection". It names the most common causes: camera not reachable, port closed, wrong user name or password, wrong address, unsupported video format.

Common questions

Why are some tiles still pictures instead of live video? Lanwall plays as many tiles live as your TV can decode at once; the others show a picture that is refreshed in turn, with its age on the tile. On TVs that can decode only one or two videos at a time, every tile is a still picture. Entering a sub stream for each camera, or an HTTP JPEG snapshot address, helps.

It says the password is wrong and does not try again. That is deliberate: a rejected password is never retried on its own. Correct it in the camera's settings. Address templates fill in only the address format; Lanwall has no list of default passwords.

How does "Add from phone" work? Scan the code on the TV with a phone on the same network and fill in the camera in the phone's browser. The page works only while that screen is open on the TV, and each code works once. What you type travels over your home network without HTTPS, so use it only on a network you trust.

Can I record, get motion alerts or watch from outside my home? No. Lanwall does not record, has no motion detection or notifications, and works only on your local network. The wall plays only while the app is open.

How many cameras? Up to 16 on one wall. OK opens a camera full screen (main stream), Left and Right switch cameras, Back returns to the wall.
